Class Rules:

     1.  Follow all TLAM rules.

     2.  Follow all Team rules.

     3.  Classroom

          - Be in your seat working quietly when the tardy bell rings.

         -  Follow the CHAMP procedures for classroom behavior.

         -  Be respectful.

Student Evaluation:
Grades are based on a point system. Calculate your average by points earned divided by points possible.
Science Notebook  60%

     This will include:

        1.  Daily warm ups (5%)

        2.  Class work (25%)

        3.  Homework (5%)

        4.  Labs (25%)

Notebooks are graded biweekly and are to be kept in the classroom (unless taken home for homework)

Quizzes and mini-quizzes  20%

Tests  20%

Note:  Quizzes can be resubmitted with corrections for partial credit 24 hours after they are returned to student.  Te receive credit, all questions and the correct answer must be rewritten either on the original quiz or on a separate piece of paper attached to the original quiz.

Points earned divided by points possible
100 – 90.0% = A
89.9 – 80.0% = B
79.9 - 70.0% = C
69.9 - 60.0% = D
59.9% and below = F

Educational Materials – bring to science class everyday:

Folder
Paper
Something to write with
Student Planner

Donations requested
rolls of paper towels, liquid soap, computer paper

Deadlines
Assignment due dates: *assignments are given due dates and the students are informed in 3 ways: orally in class, written on the agenda board in class, and posted on the teacher's website!

If absent the entire day that an assignment is due, you are to remember (without me asking for it) to hand the assignment to me on the day you return from your absence.
If you are absent several days in a row, you have the same number of days you were absent to get the work in.
If you leave school for some reason such as a doctor’s appointment or became ill on the day an assignment is due, and you will not attend science class on this day, your assignment is still due. Bring the assignment to me before leaving the building.
If absent on the day of a test or quiz, you will take the test/quiz upon your return. If you have been absent a few days or an extended period of time we’ll discuss together when the test should be made up.
Late assignments will receive half credit.

Grade Recovery in Science – following current school district policy which allows a “second chance” to earn a C if a D or an F is received on the report card. Grade recovery details of this opportunity is given in writing for the student and parent to sign. A "good-faith effort" must be made on the part of student to earn this chance. An example of good-faith effort would be to complete all assigned work.

Rx   Prescription for Success in Science Class
(Take only if you want an A!)
Turn in all your assignments completed and on time. Organize your science notebook and never throw any science papers away. Read your assigned textbook pages.
Re-write your notes, talk out loud when reviewing the material, pre-tend to teach the information, create your own quiz, and seek my help when necessary.
Never say “I don’t have any homework in science.”
