Welcome to Frank H Peterson School of Technology,
CANDY! CANDY! CANDY!
The Math department is starting teh candy fundraiser on November 2, 2009. The money raised will go for classroom equipment, student rewards, and other needed expenses. All students and parents are encouraged to participate to help learning. Each student selling 3 or more boxes is rewarded with a pizza party, and teh top sellers will be rewarded with prizes such as graphing calculators or prom tickets. See any math teacher for details!
AP Statistics is currently in chapter 4. This chapter discusses how to re-direct data to fit a model more appropriate for statistical analysis. This nine weeks the AP students have some hard work to do. We need to be through chapter 8 before the end of the nine weeks.
AP Statistics is a very challenging course. Student success depends on parent involvement, student effort and teacher knowledge of AP courses. Reading the materail BEFORE class is essential. It is my goal, as the teacher; to have at least half of my students pass the AP exam.
Probability and Statistics is using a great book to learn from, "Statistics in Action." This book covers a variety of real world cases to learn what statistics is really about. We are currently in chapter 3. This chapter is about how to use and interpret two quantitative data. We will continue in this chapter until November 10. We will have a test over chapter 3 on that day.
Student success in this course will depend on student effort and parent involvement. Students are expected to have read the sections being covered in class, BEFORE class starts. This will allow for class time to be used for problem analysis instead of lecture. My goal as a teacher is teach this course so each student can take a level one stats course in college and easily pass with a B or higher.
Honors Algebra II is in Module three from Riverdeep. This module covers "quadratics." In this module students will be learning how to solve for zeros through graphing, factoring, and the quadratic formula. This is also the first module to seperate honors students from standard students. The honors students begin preparing for pre-calculus at the end of the module.
Students will be graphing and solving equations throughout this module so the TI-83 or TI-84 calculator is very important. My goal as a teacher for this class is to make sure they are overly prepare to take pre-calculus next year with no problems.
