FOCUS - 2 sessions required. Your student is to work on this site until complete. We are working on the program 2 times this week during school and then 3 nights for homework. This should give your child plenty of opportunity to complete.
Thursday - SunShine Math is due on Friday. Remember...your child must "ATTEMPT" each problem to receive homework credit.

Benchmark testing Monday and Tuesday for Math and Science. No Reading Benchmark test will be given. The new Superintendent did not think our current Benchmark for Reading matched the FCAT.
Vanlentine's Day celebration with card and small gifts like candy, pencils, etc...will be observed on Feb. 14. Remember, to include every classmate when participating. A voluntary project was given out on Feb. 1. If you are not participating, please bring something to collect your gifts in.

Year conference notices were handed out last week. It's that time of year for you, if you'd like, to sign up for a time to meet Mrs. Fussell and I to go over Benchmark scores, Kidbiz progress, etc.... Please, check your child's two pocket folder for the sign-up sheet. We will be schedualing slots until Feb. 7 as the confernce date is for Feb. 8.
Book orders are due this coming Friday. A check my be written to Scholastic Book Clubs or you may order online.

5th graders have the privilage of having a favorite memory added to the yearbook. These forms were handed out last week and are due to the PTA by February 8.
Week of January 22
I'm Baaaaack! Thank you for all your concerns and well wishes. Now, it's back to business.
Your student should be concentrating on their report writing final copies, posters and oral presentations. I have given Mrs. Fussell's homeroom until Friday to have their rough drafts in . My homeroom should now be working on final copies, posters and oral presentations. Their rough drafts were due to me today.
My homeroom will be receiving a Social Studies chapter 8 short and extended response sheet on Wednesday. This will be a take home part of their test and the multiple choice part will be given on Thursday.
Please, look for a mid-year conference sheet coming home to you this week. This has been a tradition at JBE over the past few years. You wiil be asked to fill the sheet out, return it to school and Mrs. Fussell and I will do our best to give you a time that is convenient for you to come in and discuss your student's progess so far this year.

Wednesday - Student's are to choose a Revolutionary War person to write a report about. The information is due in class on Friday, January 4. They may have books, internet materials and may use classroom encycopedias to research and write their report. A poster and an oral presentation will be required after the written report is completed. A rubric and report information has been given to your student.

People Fair school presentation will be held 9-10:00 in the 5th grade hall on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Students should come dressed in their costume and may change to other clothes after the presentation hour.

Students that volunteered to enter an essay contest given by the Daughters of the American Revolution on the topic "Forgotten Patriots Who Supported the American Struggle for Independence" is due on November 8.
