Welcome!! My name is Laura Patey Hammock. I am from Longwood, Florida and I have lived in Jacksonville for 19 years. I moved here to go to Jacksonville University. There, I studied Elementary Education and Dance Education. This will be my fifteenth year at Pine Forest SOTA.
HOMEWORK
Just about every night there is a homework assignment. On MONDAY the students will copy their homework in their planners. The planner is sent home for the parent and the student to plan out their week. The homework is kept in the planner. The homework is to brought back the next day. When the entire class brings their homework in, they get a handful of marbles in a jar. When the jar is full, the class will have a class party! So, do your homework! J
DISCIPLINE
In my class, behavior management is run on the A,B,C,D,F daily system. The grade for the day is kept in the planner. It should be signed every night by a parent or guardian.

CONSEQUENCES
If a student breaks any classroom or school rules, their card will drop a letter grade. Depending upon a situation, a referral may be taken upon Mrs. Williams for the punishment. Again, if your child follows the rules, does their homework, and has their planner signed--we’ll have a wonderful year!!
FIELD TRIPS & PARENT INVOLVEMENT
We will go on field trips this year. If you’d like to chaperone, please be sure to fill out your volunteer paperwork. Also, I will need a parent, guardian, or grandparent daily to help out in the mornings. Please email me or let me know if you are interested!
DAILY SCHEDULE
Because this is a Magnet school, our resource schedule is very busy. This is a great chance for the students to get their arts exposure. I will send home our resource schedule as soon as possible.
Lunch is TBA
Please send an afternoon snack for your child.

Again, I can not stress enough on checking your emails daily. Also, please bookmark my website. I’m constantly updating the website with homework, information, etc. We also start projects in the 2nd grade. This should be fun!
