Hi! We are in the home stretch..........It has been an awesome year !

I am so proud of our students. They have shown tremendous effort throughout the year! 

I am so thankful for all of the parental help!

 

Curriculum

Reading/ Writing - We are doing an Eric Carle author study. We continue to pracitice retelling... beg/mid/end as well as revisit our narrative writing skills. We are doing compare and contrast activities. We are doing editing  and peer conferencing during our writing time.

Math- We are concentrating on addition and subtraction. We are writing our own adddition and subtraction sentences. We are playing many games that incorporate addition and subtraction strategies.

Science-  We are learning about Living and Non living things, Plants and Animals.

 

Please continue to practice skills..... we have two important test coming up in May.

Students will be tested individually for the final CCSS Math test and the final FAIR assessment.

Dates are: May 29th- May 3rd for the CCSS

                      May 6th- May 23rd for the FAIR

 

  April 25th-  Old Florida Museum Field Trip - 8:45-2:15 PM

 April 26th-  Country Report Projects due

 

Real Men Read Books week April 29- May 3rd

Bravo! I am so proud of our men! We have five dads, brothers, and uncles that will be reading

to us!

Morgan Smith, Jasper Darnell, Rome Shubert, Heath Brockwell and Waylon's uncle!!!!

Garden Day Monday April 29th 9-12. We need helpers, flowers and red mulch!

 

May 1st  Kindergarten Round Up for incoming Kindergarteners and Parents! 6PM

May 6-10 -Teacher Appreciation Week

May 10 - Kindergarten Playday- 9:15-10:00 AM   - Wear tennis shoes!

May 14 - FABE Boosterthon K runs laps from 8:30-?

May 17 - Cultural Arts Fair - Medieval Theme

 May 21st - K/1 Science Projects - Kindergarten classes will do group projects. Our class will do plants.

 May 24th- Volunteer Breakfast 7:45 AM

May 27th - No School - Memorial Day

May 28th - K/1 PTA Program -Time TBA

May 31st - Walk to the Beach Field trip

June 4th-   Water Playday

June 5th -   Movie Day

June 6th-   Class Awards 2 PM tentative

June 7th-    Last day- dismisses at noon.

Snack - Please remember to send a healthy snack daily for your child.

Don't forget your child can read books on line.

Destination Success
On-line skill practice.
Go to DCPS website: duvalschools.org
Then go to student software,
click Destination Success website
Your child's username and password is the BEE Book behind the Behavior Calendar.
Be sure to hit the save button after your child finishes a skill.That will record the activity as completed.

Starfall.com is another excellent website for reading games and reading practice.


BEE Books- Bring Everything Everyday
For Parent /Teacher Communication, the students will bring home their BEE Book daily. It will have the student's Behavior Calendar and other helpful items/information.
BEE Books will begin the following week after supplies have been collected.

Don't forget to send Lunch money or prepay online.( see DCPS website) Also, parents can prepay for the week in the cafeteria before school.
Cost is $ 1.60 this year.
