ATTENTION: ALL STUDENTS WILL BE CREATING A SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT DURING THE 2ND 9 WEEKS.  IT WILL BE DUE BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK.

                                 HIGHLIGHTS:

* Look for paperwork to come home 10/27. 
* Please return paperwork signed by 11/3.
* All students will have a 2 page,typed research paper 
            PAPERS ARE DUE: Tuesday, Dec 1st
* Students may pick between a science fair quality project (125 points), a class fair quality project (100 points) or they may design and build a "Rube Goldberg" contraption utilizing and correctly labeling the 6 simple machines we are learning about this unit. The machine must work successfully, be able to travel to school and be demonstrated before the class. 
* Students may work in teams of 2 to build the machine. The other two project types must be done individually.  
            PROJECTS ARE DUE: Friday, 12/11

Please take your textbook home and leave it there so you can do your homework each night.  (We have a class set of books, so you do not need to lug your book to class, ever!) In the unlikely event you misplace your book, you can always access it online.

HELP SESSIONS - Every Friday morning at 9:15 I will be available to help you.  You may also make up any missed tests or quizzes during this time or retake a failed test.

Note: Any other morning that you are walking by and see me in my classroom after 9:15, you may come in to retake tests, etc. also.
 

         You will need this year:          
A 1" binder filled with paper
Pencils or pens in a binder pouch                        
4 tabs - Daily Work, Tests/Quizzes, Labs, Projects                    
A pack of markers (any size or type) to leave in class
A box of Kleenex or roll of paper towels to donate to the class
An inexpensive calculator.  Please keep it in your binder pouch as 
    you will need it every week.
        Things you can expect from me                  
1) To be fair, kind and respectful to you.
2) To make science fun and my class enjoyable.
3) To be available to give you extra help before school when needed.
4) To listen to your concerns and try to help you come up with solutions to your problems.
5) To pass on to you my love of science and fascination with the world around us and an interest in how things work. 
6) To teach you to think for yourself and to find answers to whatever you are curious about.
 
                   
Things you can expect in my class
:
1) Many hands-on labs and group activities.
2) Homework every school night, listed in the Weekly Overview at the bottom this website.  I will update it at the start of each week. (There usually will be no HW on weekends, though.)
3) A quiz every week to check your understanding of what we have been learning.
4) A project each 9 weeks.
5) The chance to retake any failed test for full credit or redo any lab if you are not satisifed with the grade.

                                    
Things I expect from you:
1) To be kind and respectful of me and each other.
2) To be on time and prepared for class with homework, paper and writing utensils, etc.
3) To be in class every day unless there is a good reason to be absent.
