Dear Parents/Guaridans,
      Our first successful 9 weeks period is behind us. Please continue to encourage and support your child as she/he works to improve or maintain her/his grades through the second 9 weeks.  Parent involvement does make a difference.  Below are our upcoming areas of study.
Reading

     We will be working on strategies for reading comprehension as well as test taking strategies.  Students should be independently reading at least 3 books monthly to reach the 25 book goal by the end of April.  Encourage your child to read at home daily.  
Writing

     We are finishing narrative writing and each student will publish a narrative piece.  Our next writing genre will be report writing.  Students will choose a topic related to Florida.  After the holiday break will we begin studying expository writing and reviewing narrative writing.
Vocabulary and Spelling

     Vocabulary and spelling are studied on alternate weeks.  A list is stapled in the agenda each Monday.  Spelling words will be words that students commonly spell in their writing.
