Welcome to Mrs. Smith's Class
Welcome to Mrs. Smith's Class
Details coming soon about our field trip to Mosh on Dec.10th.
Notes were sent home with information about the Thanksgiving Feast ($4 per person) which will be held in the classroom on Nov. 23rd, 12:30PM. Please return the note with the money by Nov.18th.
Pie fundraiser money due Nov. 17th. (Rewards for the top sellers.)
Reminder: please help your child study to memorize their multiplication facts. They need to practice a few minutes every night.
Please check your child's agenda and backpack for notes and papers that need to be signed and returned.

All assignments must be completed. Any incomplete assignments will be counted as a zero (F.) This would lower the student's average grade. I'll send home students' work papers every other Friday, and sometimes papers will be sent home daily if I have time to review them with the class beforehand. If an assigned paper is below a C, I'll send it home as soon as possible for you to sign and return. ( The assignment will be reviewed with the student, either before or right after it is returned by you.) You'll always be aware of how your child is doing (especially if they're performing below grade level.)

Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Conferences are generally scheduled at 8A.M. or right after school. (Phone conferences are also available during those times also.)
Conduct Grade:
Students' conduct grade is based on their behavior in class, the cafeteria, halls, restroom, and resources.

Homework is given every night except for Friday (although reading their book is expected every night.)
Math/Social Studies/ Science assignments are given on Monday & Wednesday Nights. Language Arts assignments are given by Ms. Ayers on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Homework shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes each night (except for the nightly reading.)
We are now working on memorizing the multiplication facts through the twelves. All students have passed their 0's and 1's tests and now are working at their own pace at mastering the others.
Please help your child a few minutes each night to memorize these facts. Flash cards, writing them time and time again, and orally quizzing them are strategies that are helpful. The students master one set of tables before going onto the next, so there is a possibility that they will retake a certain set of facts more than once. There will be a timed test every Thursday.
Please check this website frequently for future updates.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I am looking forward to a great year and I know with your help and support it will happen. Everything can be accomplished much easier if we work together as a team.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith
