The Covey principle-based leadership skills come from the books The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The 7 Habits of Happy Kids.  The habits are as follows:

•   Habit 3: Put First Things First® • Work First, Then Play
•   Habit 4: Think Win-Win® • Everyone Can Win
•   Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood® • Listen Before You Talk
•   Habit 6: Synergize® • Together Is Better
•   Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw® • Balance Feels Best  

In addition to the seven habits, Dr. Covey has added an eighth habit that encompasses one’s talent, passion, conscience, and the needs of your community. This eighth habit is titled Finding Your Voice and Inspire Others to Find Theirs. 

     The Leader in Me process helps develop the essential life skills and characteristics students need in order to thrive in the 21st century. The habits are designed to make students realize that they are in charge of making their own decisions. The habits promote responsibility, respect and collaboration, skills that are valued not only in school but also in the community and in the work place.  Through this program, students will be taught how to lead their lives and to be a success in their own right.  Our TLAE Wildcats will become leaders for life with the self-confidence to succeed in any endeavor.
