I came to Jacksonville 27 years ago from the mile high city of Denver, Colorado after graduating from the University of Denver.
My first three years were spent teaching at Ramona Blvd Elementary on the Westside. After working on the westside of Jacksonville, I moved to the beaches and taught at San Pablo Elementary for 9 years. After getting married and having our first child we moved to the Mandarin area and I joined the faculty at Twin Lakes when it opened. I have been a part of this incredible family for the last twelve years.
In my career, I have taught most of the elementary grades. The best part about teaching this age range is that the kids keep up with my pacing, laugh at my jokes, and the best part, they will listen and enjoy my singing and guitar playing! On a serious note, I love teaching this age range because I am amazed at the maturity, depth of thinking and problem solving that emerges with kids at this point in their school career, and nothing is more rewarding to me than helping to unfold their knowledge in the areas of mathematics and science.
My mother has always been my inspiration for wanting to teach. She had been an educator for over 40 years. I knew teaching was what I wanted to spend my life doing at the early age of seven, while in the second grade sharing my experiences with her. Teaching brings me such fulfillment and each day offers a new sense of accomplishment and point of reflection for improving my craft the following day. There is nothing more rewarding for me than having each day serving as a new adventure, unique to what was experienced the day before.
Along with my husband, who I have been happily married to for 16 years, my sons are the most important part of my life. Bronson is a sophomore at Atlantic Coast High School. My youngest son, Brock, is 8 years old and in third grade here at Twin Lakes Academy Elementary. Both of these boys are my absolute pride and joy! We still live in Mandarin and we love to spend our free time outdoors enjoying the Florida sunshine. We also love cooking, reading, traveling and catching the latest movie together (complete with popcorn and sodas).
