Parents:

Please listen to your child read their library book everynight for 15-20 minutes. During reading or after reading, ask them questions related to the book. Great questions to ask are: Who are the characters in the story? What is the nature of the character or what are the traits of the character? What is the setting of the story?(Where and when does the story take place?) What kind of connection do you make with the book? (text-text, text-self, text-world) Why? Tell me a summary of what you just read and include the main character, setting, and plot.

It is important that your child becomes a fluent reader. The least amount of mistakes that they make while reading and the faster they read............. the better your child understands what they are reading!
