This week is an A week for resources.
Calendar Notes:
We have PE, Art and Media this week.
Reading-For the next two weeks we will be working on nonfiction conventions. These include table of contents, headings, diagram,labeling,pictures,captions, glossary, bold and italic words and the job of the author/illustrator.
Math- We have now finished 3-D/2-D shapes. We will be working with numbers from 11-20 now. Students will need to know the number recognition, number word, and how to decompose and compose numbers between 11-19. This means how many tens and ones are in each number up to 30. We will also be working with 10's and 1's to figure out how many are in any given number up to 50.
Science- This unit is on movement. How we can move and how things around us move.
SS- We are learning about our family now and historically. Also it is Black History month and our class is focusing on Rosa Parks.
Writing- We have started a class report on spiders. Then students can pick an animal of their choosing. This includes making sure we use only capitals at the beginning of a sentence, periods at the end of a sentence and spacing between words.. Reports include how to use 4 square organizers for each section of the report (habitat,describing attributes,food, intersting facts), creating a diagram of the spider and labeling all parts, table of contents, glossary and helping to use technology to finish the report.
Skills--in/id word fmailies, spelling test of sight words(here,come,yes,go,by,it, she,he), blending and segmenting words and syllables.
Spelling-Sight Word study 5-Step Word Study Method
1. Look at the whole word carefully.
2. Say the word aloud to yourself. Break it down into syllables.
3. Spell the word. (Say each letter to yourself.)
4. Write the word from memory, one syllable at a time. (Cover the word and write it.)
5. Check your written word against the correct spelling. (Circle errors and repeat the 5 steps with the words you misspelled).
