My name is Sarah Newsome and I am privileged to be your child's teacher this year. This is my fourth year teaching kindergarten at Enterprise Learning Academy. Kindergarten provides many "basics" of learning, both socially and academically. You will be amazed at the growth you see in your child in the course of one school year. At this age, children not only learn to be more independent, make friends, play well with others, listen, follow directions and tie their own shoes :), they also learn to read, write (reports, narrative stories, "how-to's," responses to literature and persuasive pieces, etc...), add, subtract, create patterns, experiment, observe and discuss the world around them.

This website will provide weekly reports on what we are learning in class and important upcoming dates. Kindergarten is a place where your child will learn as they go, getting constructive help on a daily basis to help them grow in their understanding of key skills and concepts.

I hope you, as parents and guardians, will become a frequent visitor of this website. I will update it OFTEN! Your are your child's first, and most impressive teacher. The more you become involved in what your child is learning at school, the more motivated your child will be to learn, retain information and succeed in school.  I look forward to being partners in your child's education this year.

Please review and KEEP your Kindergarten beginning of the year information packet. In it, you will find a breakdown of the behavior system used at Enterprise, the CHAMPs behavior model, general dismissal guidelines, information about lunch (prices, times, etc...), daily activities within a kindergarten classroom, information about classroom procedures and much more. Now that all beginning of the year conferences are completed, continue to use your packet of the 1st nine weeks expectations as well as a set of sight word flashcards for the assigned sight words for this nine weeks period. For the rest of the year, the nine weeks' expectations and sight word flashcards will be included with your child's report cards each quarter (please sign, date and return the bottom portion of the expectations list with your child's report card). These lists of expectations are designed to be a guideline/checklist to monitor the skills your child needs to work on or has mastered already. If your child masters all of the skills and knowledge listed in these packets, he/she will be exceptionally prepared for 1st grade and beyond.
