Course Objective: The purpose of this course is to develop and enhance healthy behaviors that influence lifestyle choices, student health and fitness.   

 

Health Concept/Skills:  

  • Risk and safety factors that may affect physical activity throughout life
  • Knowing strategies for health enhancement and risk reduction.
  • How to implement a plan for attaining personal health goals for the school year.
  • Knowing strategies when making decisions regarding healthy habits.
  • Understanding the relationships among physical, mental, emotional and social health.
  • Knowing how to make positive decisions related to tobacco, nutrition, physical activity, sexuality, and alcohol and other drugs.

 

Physical Education Concepts/Skills:

  • Participating in games, sports, outdoor pursuits, and other physical activities.
  • Knowing how to evaluate one’s own skilled performances.
  • Maintaining and improve motor skills.
  • Knowing how to maintain appropriate levels of cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
