PARENTS, THE GRADE PORTAL IS NOW UP AND RUNNING!  SEE BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION!

______________

NEW GRADING POLICY

Effective as of October 27, 2009

DAILY
– Class work will still count as half (50%) of your overall grade.

HOMEWORK – Homework will still count as a quarter (25%) of your overall grade.

  • You will still have weekly notebook checks.
  •  Homework will be given once every two weeks.  It will be a review of the work covered during that two week period.  You will be graded based on completion on a 3 point rubric.

     -     3 points – ALL of the assignment has been completed, work has been shown, directions have ben followed, work is neat and easy to read

     -     2 points – Most of the assignment has been completed, work has been shown, directions have been completed, work is neat and easy to read

     -     1 point – Some of the assignment has been completed, work has been shown, directions has been followed, work is fairly neat and easy to read

     -     0 points – The assignment was not attempted or the assignment was completed but no work was shown

  • Homework will NOT be accepted late as you will have at least 4 days to complete it.
  • Some of the homework will be on half sheets of paper.  You will copy the problems on your own paper and complete the assignment.
  • Each homework assignment completed during a chapter will result in two extra credit points which will be added to that chapter’s test score.

TESTS – Tests will still count as a quarter (25%) of your overall grade.

  • You will take a test at the end of each chapter.  You will complete a Focus On Improvement (FOI) document when you take the test and will have the option of remediating and retaking the test within two weeks of receiving the test back.  In order to do this you will finish completing the FOI document , get a parent signature, and complete remediation assignments.
  • Warm-ups (writing prompts or FCAT practice problems) will be graded based on completion on a 2 point rubric.  The number of points earned will be divided by twice the number of warm-ups and will result in a test grade.

     -     2 points – warm-up completed

     -     1 point – warm-up partially completed

     -     0 points – warm-up NOT completed
