Student Portfolios and Grades
You will notice a "Portfolio Grade" on the student grade link.
The student portfolio is the culmination of the students written work to date.
This Includes everything from chapter work in the text book to the student's own news stories and editorials.
The portfolio is up to 50% of the student's grade for each nine weeks.
The student portfolio is something designed for the student to keep for all four years, and to be proud of!
Additionally, students are encouraged to include DVDs of videos they have produced in their portfolio!
Ask your son/daughter to see their TV portfolio from time to time!
See current Portfolio link→
A,B,C, and D Occupational Completion Points Explained
If your son or daughter comes home and mentions they are a "C" or"D" student in TV Production
DON'T PANIC!
They are more than likely referring to the State of Florida's "Occupational Completion Points" method of
evaluating student achievement.
(If it is a actual "D" grade or below they will receive a scholarship warning and time to correct the problem)
The Florida Department of Career &Technical Education uses Occupational Completion Points or... OCPs' to "Rate" the students achievement throughout the students year(s) in a Career and Technical Education Class.
Examples ...
A student completes 1 year in TV Production (450 hours total) and passes all the requirements.
That student would now qualify as OCP "A"
2 years (900 hours total) OCP "B"
3 years (1350 hours total) OCP "C"
and 4 years (1650 hours total) OCP "D"
