Yearbooks are now $75 through March 15th, or while supplies last.  You may purchase on in room 211 before or after school or go to www.yearbookforever.com.

QUARTER 3 BEGINS

FCAT Writes is Tuesday, Feb. 9; FCAT Reading is March 10.  ARE YOU READY???

Monday - Thursday, January 25-28
I wasn't on campus Monday, but students worked on writing the body of an FCAT essay to make it a higher score, and we finished reading, discussing and watching Act III of Taming of the Shrew.  If any remaining time is available, we will review for the Act II and III quiz, and maybe begin reading Act IV (this happened in period 4, so we read Act IV, scene i).  **Period 5 was significantly shorter today, so students will get a few extra minutes on Monday to finish their work.  The Acts II and III quiz will be next Monday and Tuesday.

If a student fails the quiz, they may report to the library after school on Thursday, Jan. 28, Tuesday, Feb. 2 or Thursday, Feb. 4.  I will pick them up from the library at 2:30 and bring them to my room to retake the quiz (they may do this each of the three days provided, if they wish).  IF A STUDENT IS NOT IN THE LIBRARY AT 2:30, THEY MAY NOT STAY TO RETAKE THE QUIZ.  This is an effort to help students learn to read throughthe text closely and to analyze that text at a much higher level, so students will ONLY have to re-take the questions they missed.

 I CHECKED FOR A LONG WAY GONE TODAY.  IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT, YOU NEED TO GET IT ASAP.  CHPTS. 1-9 SHOULD BE READ BY THURSDAY, FEB. 4/FRIDAY, FEB. 5!!!!!

 

Friday-Monday, Jan. 29-Feb. 1

We took a real-time FCAT Writing Practice today.  We also worked on Act IV of Taming of the Shrew.

Tuesday, Feb. 2

I gave students their FCAT essays back and showed a strong student example.  Students worked in class on a revisions, then I let them take their essays home to complete their work.  BOTH copies are due back next class.

Wednesday-Thursday, Feb. 3-4

We read Act IV today.  Two of five classes finished and were able to begin watching the film.  We'll continue our work after  FCAT Writes next Tuesday.

Friday, Feb. 5

We watched Act IV today and spent time revising the FCAT Writing Practice.  Students finished this for homework.

Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 8-9

We took a quiz on A Long Way Gone, chpts. 1-9.  Our primary focus was, however, FCAT Writes, especially in Monday's classes and Tuesday's 4B.  In 5B and 6B, we began reading Act V of Taming of the Shrew.
