American History (8th grade) Syllabus
Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to enable students to understand the development of the United States within the context of history by examining various connections to the past to prepare for the future, and as participating members of a democratic society. Students will use knowledge of history, geography, economics, political processes, religion, ethics, diverse cultures, and humanities to solve problems in academic, civic, social, and employment settings.

Course Description:

A = 90-100 D = 60-69
B = 80-89 F = 59-below

Make-up Work:
Students will have an opportunity to make-up any missed assignments on Earl Release days (Wednesday).
Required Instructional Materials:
Students will need notebook paper, a 3 ring binder, #2 pencil(s), blue/black ink pen(s), 12 colored pencils, and 1 pencil/pen pouch. All textbooks are provided for in-school useage.

The World Factbook:
Provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 266 world entities. The Reference tab includes: maps of the major world regions, as well as Flags of the World, a Physical Map of the World, a Political Map of the World, and a Standard Time Zones of the World map.
