Welcome to Mrs. Sheikh's ELA class!

I am looking forward to a great year with the 8th graders on Team 8C.  In the classroom syllabus that went out the first day of school, I wrote a note to all of my students:

Dear Young Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome Back!  I am proud to say that I am a teacher here at TLAM and am very excited to guide you through this year. 

This is my 9th year teaching and it feels like only yesterday I started teaching Language Arts to a group of eager youngsters like you in NYC.  I am starting my third year here at TLAM, and love being part of the Timberwolf family.  I myself am married with two kids. I love to read, cook, shop and most of all, spend time with my children in my spare time. 

 I am here to help YOU tame the FCAT, sharpen you essay writing skills so you can slice through FCAT Writes and ultimately succeed in High School. Each day will be devoted to either writing or reading, and I am sure you will enjoy every second of it.

Now that you have read this through, I have a question for you. What are your goals this year? We all have them, let's come up with some. Think about them since we will be writing them down and discussing them.

Here is to an awesome year. Go TLAM class of 2010!!!
