The Red Book for Behavior

The Red book is designed for students to take responsibility of their own actions. Students when tardy to class, break any class rules, school policies or fail to meet teachers expectations will have to sign the Red Book. If a student has signed in his/her name 3 times for not following rules and school policies in the Red Book, we will call student's home as we need parent support to help us so that everybody gets a chance to learn and use time effectively . If the behavior does not improve, we will take immediate disciplinary actions.

Curriculum

We will start with learning Non-Fiction and elements of Non-Fiction. Throughout the second quarter we will read different articles and informative materials from Literature text book. Test and quizzes will be given on the short stories we read in class. The dates of these quizzes will be announced ahead of time. Students should keep all the notes and class work in their Language Arts binder. All our major assignments will be kept in the student Portfolio Folder. Students will set up this folder with Table of Contents so that they can keep up with the assignments.
These portfolio assignments are very important in our class.

In addition to this we will also read and write regulary in class. Every Mondays and Wednesdays students respond to the book of the month. On Tuesdays and Thursdays students write on a topic based on different writing styles. Fridays are our silent reading days! Students will respond to what they read that day on a specific form. Once they finish a book they should complete a reading log to get credit toward the 25 books challenge! The due dates for completeing  books at the end of a quater is posted in class.
