Welcome! FCAT is quickly approaching, and I encourage all students to work on Compass Odyssey learning paths for Reading and Math. The more practice you have with basic skills, the better off you will be in March. This program is also used for grade recovery.
To access Compass Odyssey from home, please go to www.duvalschools.org. Use the drop-down menu under "Students" and select "Student Software". Follow the directions for Odyssey.
Current Event summaries are due on the following dates:
** FRIDAY January 29
** FRIDAY February 5
** FRIDAY February 12
** FRIDAY February 19
** FRIDAY February 26
This quarter, Current Events will be 10% of each student's grade.
Our current topic of study is how human body systems work together to benefit the entire organism. We are currently working on a team project entitled Human Body for President. It includes an art, writing and a performance component. We have green skinny books for this unit, and I only have a class set. However, students may access the online version of this textbook from home by going to http://my.hrw.com. The username is duvalmiddle (all lowercase letters) and the password is PARVU (all capital letters). Click on the link for Short Course D: Human Body Systems and Health. You may then access each chapter.
**On Monday February 8 a letter for parents will be sent home with all my students. I am teaching a 1-2 day lesson on the reproductive system. It is part of our 6th grade Science curriculum. If any parents want to opt-out their child from this instruction, please follow the procedures on the letter and I will provide an alternate assignment. A copy of the letter can be found under the links section of this website.
