6B “Mighty Wolves” 2009-2010
I am delighted to have your child at Twin Lakes Academy Middle. I know the transition from elementary to middle school can be demanding at the beginning of the school year for our sixth graders. However, as the year progresses, it will become more challenging because we do have high expectations for our students. Therefore, I will need your assistance by regular communicating with your child, me, and the school, so we can collaboratively work together to meet their academic needs.
Soon you will have the ability to view and access your child’s grades, attendance, and other pertinent information at the beginning of the second grading period via computer by logging in the your child’s password that will be given to you. Please read the following information carefully. If you have any questions, please call me at 538-0825 ext. 198 and/or e-mail me at madisonf@duvalschools.org.
Planners:
The planner must be with the students at all times. It will serve as a hall pass and agenda to keep their daily class work and homework assignments documented. Most importantly, the planner will serve as a vital tool for parents/guardians and the teachers to communicate throughout the year to discuss other pertinent information, such as conduct.
Materials:
* Reading Book * 3 Ring Binder * Composition Book
* Hand held pencil sharpener with holder * Colored Pencils
* Highlighters * #2 Pencils * Loose Leaf Paper
* 1 Folder w/prongs
Grading:
The grades are given on a point scale. For example, if the student earns 200 points out of 250 points, their final score will be 80%, which is a B for that nine week grading period.
Grading Scale:
A = 100 – 90
B = 89 – 80
C = 79 – 70
D = 69 – 60
F = 59 and below
Extra Credit:
At the end of each grading period, I will offer extra credit as a “last minute effort” to help increase students’ average before final grades are given. I encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity when given.
