2.  To Be Excused from Class Participation for Two or More Days, You Must Have a Doctor’s Statement.  You Will Need To Do A Writing Assignment In Order To Get Credit.

Any Student Who Is Absent 4 or More Days Must Pass Their 9 Week Exam In Order To Earn a Passing Grade

Student Expectations and Policies

By state law, each student must have one complete year or two semesters of Physical Education in order to meet High School graduation requirements.  The HOPE program is a new state mandated class that is required for 11th graders; this will be a year long course.  Also each Physical Education student is required to have a change of clothes and dress-out to participate in any sport activity.

It is our hope, at First Coast, that students will develop positive health and fitness attitudes, skills, and behaviors that they will adopt and enjoy for the remainder of their lifetime.

Dress-Out Policy

As the school colors are royal blue, gray, black and white, we feel that dressing out in these colors creates a sense of school spirit and pride.  Therefore, the following dress code shall be used:  WE DISCOURAGE BACKPACKS FROM THE LOCKER ROOM AND CLASSROOM DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OR THEFT OF VALUABLE ITEMS.

SHORTS AND SHIRT:  No Sophie shorts, No muscle shirts, no spaghetti strap shirts, No derogatory sayings on shirt or shorts.

SOCKS:  White preferred, but any color is acceptable.

SHOES:  Tennis, running or basketball only (No other shoes are allowed for participation on the wooden floors).  NO BACKLESS SHOES PERMITTED.

SWEATS:  Black, blue, gray or white in color; nylon or fleece

Students are expected to dress-out everyday, unless otherwise instructed by your teacher.  If you have a note from a parent/guardian requesting you be excused from activity, your teacher will determine whether the reason or note is acceptable to excuse you.  A phone number of that parent is required for verification.  You will still be required to dress-out but not participate unless the excuse states otherwise.

MEDICAL EXCUSES will excuse you from participation (within the limits stated in the note), but you will continue to DRESS-OUT everyday.

Four or more non-dresses can result in failure.

NON-DRESS                                                 -10 points
