WELCOME TO MRS. POWERS' CLASS
            
I would like to take a few moments to introduce you to our class.  The 6th grade classes will be introduced and learning with a new instructional system.  This new system is called Agile Mind.   It is computer based, comprehensive, and it is aligned with our state's standards.  Sixth grade students will have Agile Mind for 90 minutes and 7th and 8th grade students will have Accelerated Math for 90 minutes.   Students will be able to log on to Agile Mind and work on it from home.  This program allows them to take an assessment  which in turns allows them to see their weaknesses.  This is where they will begin assignments and work upward to have a better understanding of math concepts.                    

ANNOUNCEMENTS
*Homework - correct any papers that students didn't make 100% on
        *Quizzes (& tests) have to be "corrected" in (made-up) my classroom
        *Student must set up day/time (between 7:30-8:30 a.m.) with me before hand, can't  just "show-up"
*Some classwork may be completed as homework.
*ALL RECOVERY/MAKE-UP WORK HAS BEEN PUT ON ODYSSEY
*ANY STUDENT THAT RECEIVED A D/F DURING THE FIRST NINE WEEKS MAY MAKE UP THEIR GRADE ON ODYSSEY
*ANY STUDENT THAT HAS A D/F AT THIS TIME DURING SECOND NINE WEEKS MAY BEGIN TO MAKE UP THEIR GRADE
*STUDENT NEEDS TO SCORE A 70% OR HIGHER ON EACH ASSIGNMENT TO RECEIVE CREDIT/GRADE CHANGE-ALL ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED TO RECEIVE GRADE CHANGE
*Tutoring times
     *7:30 to 8:45 a.m.
     *Again, student must get pass from me "before" they come, can NOT just show up
     *"Only" for students that work in class, this is "my time"

Breakfast In The Classroom (BIC) from 9:30 to 9:45

BIC is for ALL students
*Parents wanted to communicate daily with me may wish to buy a notebook/agenda, write note (etc) in it and have student to give to teacher and request teacher's signature.  *May also wish to have student to write down all homework, daily work (etc), and have student to have the teacher(s) to sign before leaving  the classroom (teacher may comment about that days behavior as well.  *STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO GET TEACHERS SIGNITURE   *Parent will ask for it daily at home (two-way communication for parent and teacher)
