Hoy es martes 18 de enero del 2011: Hola, welcome back. I hope you have enjoyed the long weekend. Today we worked on new vocabulary. We have read and answer in complete sentences in Spanish. What a wonderful job! I am so proud of my Spanish I classes! You all are writing and reading in Spanish :)

Hola clases, como estan Uds? Hoy es miercoles 5 de enero: Today we took quiz about preposition of location, the verb estar, and plural of nouns and articles. The quiz is worth 44 points. I hope I will have the grades tomorrow.
After the quiz, we worked on chapter 3A activities 12 and 14. Keep studying for the final exam on 1/13. If you need extra help, you know that I am available every day between 1:45 and 2:40.

The activities we have done are: A primera vista from the book, actividad 1, 2, 3. In the workbook we did Wbf 3A-1, 3A-2. My students already had 2 oral vocabulary quizzes. Hoy es lunes 22 de noviembre de 2010: hola, buenos dias. Today we worked on 2B vocabulary. We translated A primera vista pp 100 and 101. We also wrote the whole chapter's vocab on index cards, and finally did Wbf 2B-1, 2B- 2. Great day today, great participation. Gracias!

Jueves y viernes 18 y 18 de noviembre:  hola, we are officialy done with 2A. We read Adelante and answer "comprendes?", we also read Mexico and share its rich culture and history. Finally, we did wbf 2A-9 and took two quizzes: Subject pronouns and present tense of -ar verbs. Today Friday we started learning the vocabulary for chapter 2B. We played a couple of games to start using the new words.

Miercoles 17 de noviembre del 2010:Early release day. Hola Isabela!! Today we practice the present tense of -ar verbs. Great Job!! We worked on our workbook front 2A-6, 2A-7, and 2A-8.
Also, we chose the student of the week, in the first block is Marquell (Pedro), and in the second block is Christopher (Santiago). It was really good to get to know about you guys :-)

Also,we took Nota N 10 "Subject Pronouns in Spanish". After that, we did act 10, 11, and 12 in the textbook (Ch 2A), and wbf 2A-5.
 Tomorrow we will have a vocabulary quiz.

Martes 11/9/10: buenas noches a todos. Son las ocho de la noche. Today we took chapter 1A and 1B exam. You had to answer 53 true-false, multiple choice, and short answer questions. I have already graded the exams, and with just a couple of exceptions, you did great! I am so proud of mis estudiantes. Continue to work in class and practice every time you have a chance. Hasta manana! 

Lunes 11/8/10:hola, buenos dias! Today we started a new chapter: 2A "Tu dia en la escuela", "Your Day at School". We went through the chapter's objectives, countries conexions, and Fondo Cultural on page 72. We learned how to pronounce the vocabulary on the last page of the chapter. Also, we played a couple of games to use and practice the new vocab. Remember, tomorrow 11/9 we will have chapters 1A & 1B Exam. Study at home por favor.

Friday 11/05/10:  Today we sharpend our skills to get ready for Monday 1a, 1b exam. We worked on wbf 1B-8, 1B-8, and wbm p. 27. Also, we turned in activity 21 from the Realidades book.

Thursday 11/4/10: hola, hola a todos! Hoy esta nublado, no hay sol. In our focus lesson we used two different sources to write and ending paragraph to add to the article about Cyberbullying. Two will be chosen to be posted in this page.
 We read about the Caribean culture, history, and geography. Finally, we wrote an email to a prospective pen pal. This last written asignment is worth 10 points. Look for direction on Realidades p. 67

Wednesday 11/3/10: We took Nota  N9 about "Word order" and practice writing sentences in Spanish using the correct format.

Tuesday 11/2/10:hola a todos! We worked in a Research Porcess activity about Cyberbullying. We answer some questions and made a web organizer about the 5 key points in the article.
Afterward, we worked in written and listening activities: Act. 15, 16, and 17. Also, we took Nota N 8 about Definite and indefinite articles.

Monday 11/1/10: Today we learned about "El dia de los muertos" (Day of the Dead). We watched a PPP, read about this celebration, answer some questions, and made worked in a compare and contrast activity about Halloween and Day of the Dead.

Friday 10/29/10: Hola chicos! como estan? We kept working on adjectives, act 10, 11 and 12 from Realidades. We read a poem about Elena and made up a similar one about Tomas. Finally, we took
ch 1B vocabulary quiz. Fantastico!, congratulations to all of you who received As and Bs (the mayority of my two classes).

Thursday 10/28/10: absent?, late? do not get behind, take care of your grades. Today we took note N7: Adjectives, worked on act. 5, 6, 7, 8, and Wbm p. 20, activity 4.

Wednesday 27 de octubre :
   today we watched the videohistoria from chapter 1B, after that, we did activity 3 and act. 4 from Realidades. Also, we did wbf 1B-2, 1B-3, and 1B-4. All the written and listening activities were conducive to learn and practice vocabulary in contexy.

Tuesday 10/26/10: buenas tardes clase. What a fantastic day today! We played this new game to practice adjectives to talk about personality traits. What a good time we had! and YOU learnead your adjectives in Spanish :)
Also, we did some writing in our workbook: Wbf 1B-1, and Wbm p.25 Both must be turn in if you were absent.

Thursday 10/21/10: HOLA! today we learned about Spain's heritage, book 44, 45. Make sure you anwser Para Pensar p 45

Wednesday 10/20/10: hola a todos! Today we resumed classes after two days of FCAT retake. We started and finished the oral presentations (but for a couple of students). Great job guys!

Friday 10/15/10: buenos dias! como estan? Our Para empezar is the following: Contesta las preguntas (answer the questions) 1- Que te gusta mas? 2- Que te gusta mucho? 3- Que no te gusta nada? 4 -A mi me gusta escribir, y a ti?
While we listen to Spanish music on Youtube, we are working on the poster for the oral presentation (textbook p. 43). Make it appealing, match the visuals in your poster with what you will be saying on the oral presentation. For directions on your project see the textbook p. 43. The oral presentation is worth 50 points. Check the rubric in class.

Thursday 10/14/10:Hola, como estan? today we worked on our workbook Wbf 1A-8, 1A-9, and Wbm p. 17. Make sure that you are keeping up with your classwork since we are approaching the end of the first 9 weeks. We also started a rough draft or our personal oral presentation.

Tuesday 10/12/10: Today we practice "A mi tambien" (me too), "a mi tampoco"(me neither). We also added 40 more cognates to Nota N 4. The classes did a great job reading Adelante on pp 40 & 41, and answering Comprendes? on page 41. I am so proud of you! The reading was entirely in Spanish and YOU DID IT! Don't forget to write what you like and dislike to be displayed on the wall.

Monday 10/11/10:Our Para Empezartoday was a practice about "negatives". We took NoteN6 and watch the video. We spoke, wrote, and read in Spanish (textbook Act. 18 and 19). Don't forget to complete and turn in to me Wbf 1A-7. Great oral practice about the vowels a, e and i. Repeat this rhyme " A,E,I el perro canta para ti. A,E,I el tigre baila para mi.

Thursday and Friday 10/9 & 10/8: On Thursday we worked on a cognate activity about different types of dances in the Spanish world and watched a sample of salsa, merengue, tango, cumbia, and flamenco on youtube. On Friday we kept working on chapter 1A and making sure that we master the vocabulary on the last page of the chapter and infinitive verbs. Make sure to complete Wbf 1A-6 and Wbmp16.
By the end of the block we were ready to take a quiz about vocabulary and infinitive verbs. Congratulations for the As & Bs. You guys rock! Keep it up.

Miercoles 10/6/2010: we had a great day. We started reviewing cognates, those words that in English and Spanish look similar, sound similar, and have the same meaning. Cognates are an usufull tool to increase your vocabulary. We also worked on activity 14 in the textbook, found all the cognates that are there. Get ready!, you know that a quiz is coming.

 Octubre Monday 4, Tuesday 5:We took Note3 about Infinitive Verbs and Note4 about Cognates. Complete activities 10, 11, 12 and 13 from Realidades. Also, Wbf 1A-5 & Wbm p. 15. Check your grades online, make sure you turn in the work when you are absent. Remember, IF YOU ARE ABSENT THE DAY THE ASSIGNMENT COLLECTION, IT IS YOUR RESPONSABILITY TO TURN YOUR WORK ON THE NEXT DAY YOU ARE PRESENT.

Tuesday 9/28/10:  como estan? We took the MAP test today. We also continued to work on the new chapter. Our Para Empezar (warm up) was activity five on the book. I am so proud of all of you! 90% of my two classes got an A on the pop quiz we had today. Way to go guys!

Monday 9/27/10:Hola! We are now expressing what we like and dislike in Spanish. The vast majoriy of my classes use the new vocabulary proficiently. I am proud of you.
Today we watched the videohistoria from chapter 1A and did Act 3 on the textbook, and activities 1,2 and 3 from the wbm. Also, our warm up was wbm p. 14. Get that done and turn it in to me ASAP.

Thursday 9/23/10:  We reviewed today vocabulary from 1A. Also, we finished section A primera vista pp 26, 27 including the listening activity. In the work book we did pp 13 and 14, and we took a pop quiz about "me gusta", "no me gusta", and similar expressions. If you were absent don't forget to take that quiz that is worth 10 points.

Wednesday 9/22/2010: today was a short day, early release. However, we had time to practice "la hora", y "las estaciones". We also kept working in the new vocabulary. I am so proud of you guys! You are speaking Spanish already!.

Tuesday 9/21/2010: Hola, buenas tardes!, if you were absent today you missed a great practice about topics from the previous chapter: el cuerpo and el calendario. Ask me for the handouts tomorrow. Something else we did today was make in one index card a list of the verbs from "repaso del capitulo" on page 46. The list starts with the verb bailarand ends with "ver la tele". Get that card ready and place it in you binder.Also, bear in mind that, when you take the chapter 1A exam, you will find topics from the chapter Para Empezar included. The reason is, as we discussed it the first week of school, that when you learn a foreign language everything is recycled. You keep using it and accumulating it. Don't worry, we'll keep practicing in class, just do your part: READ 5 MINUTES EVERY NIGHT pp 22 & 46.

Today we started Chapter 1A called Que te gusta hacer? What do you like to do?
The homework for this entire week is to study the new vocabulary on page 46. Get familiar with it, get confortable with the spelling of those words, it will make your classwork much easier. :)

Spanish 1: we are almost done with the first chapter of the book Realidades. On Wednesday 15th we'll have a quiz about: greetings, numbers, weather, articles, school supplies, and the calendar. Make sure to know your vocabulary.

Tuesday 9/14/10: Spanish 1 classes. We worked in our first 2 pages reading completly in Spanish and anwsered some questions. See pp. 24a, 24b.
We read all Fondo Cultural boxes in the chapter. Remember, culture will be part of your test. We played Tengo and lo sabes? to get ready for tomorrow quiz.
Wed 9/15/10: Spanish 1 classes: Workbook middle pp. 5 and 6. Review of weather, vocabulary in general, and numbers. We also took the quiz that is worth 22 points.

Do not fall behind, study the vocabulary of chapter Para Empezar because it works as a foundation for the next chapters.
