Homework goes home every Monday (or 1st day of the week).
It is a 1 page sheet in the Take-Home folder that has Math problems for each night of the week, Important Words to Know, a Science, Writing, and Math Activity, and a Famous Person/ States of the Week.
Students are encouraged to do the following with their homework-
~Read 1 book EVERY night and log it on the PINK reading log attached to their folder.
~Practice reading the Important Words to Know (writing them 1 or 2x might help the words stick!)
~Answer 1 math problem each night- Your child will see these problems again in class as a Daily Warm-Up activity.
Example: The math problem from Monday night will be Tuesday's Warm-Up.
~Do each Science, math and writing activity.
~Students will get an extra REWARD or treat for bringing in 1 fact about the Famous Person, or States of the Week!
EXAMPLE: If our States for the week are Florida and New York, your child can bring in a sticky note, index card, or sheet of paper that says "Florida is also called the Sunshine State." "The Statue of Liberty can be found in New York City, New York." If the Famous Person is President Barack Obama, your child can say "Obama grew up in Hawaii and loved to play basketball."
** Allow your child to use the Homework sheet to do their work- they may write in the boxes or on the back.**
HOMEWORK IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE TURNED IN!!
The homework is to be completed nightly at home as an extension to what we are learning and practicing in the classroom.
Below are some websites that offer great projects and worksheets that you can print and use at home as extra support, help, or work to keep your student busy during those "No School Holidays"!!
