Welcome to a new school year at Carter G. Woodson!  As the reading coach, I will be working with your child's teacher to ensure  that your child receives excellent reading instruction.

Below is information regarding the readling level on which each child is expected  to be reading by the END of the year:

Kindergarten - Level B

First Grade - Level I

Second Grade - Level M

Third Grade - Level P

Fourth Grade - Levels O-T (within the range)

Fifth Grade - Levels S-W (within the range)

Your child's teacher will assess all students at the beginning of the year.  After assessments are complete, he or she will be able to tell you your child's current reading level and his or her strengths and weaknesses.  Help your child to succeed by partnering with his or her teacher to ensure a great year and a LOVE OF READING!
